1. Cassia Cinnamon

This type of cinnamon is most commonly sold on the market as a reddish-brown powder. Before being processed into powder, cassia cinnamon has a grainy texture, a darker color, and a bark-like appearance with a thick coating.

Its strong flavor is often used in the food industry or simply as a spice in home cooking.  The types of cinnamon itself can again be differentiated based on their countries of origin: Indonesia, China, and Vietnam.

Cassia cinnamon from Indonesia is more popular and is sold more often in the market because it has the sweetest and softest taste compared to the other two types.

On the other hand, cassia cinnamon from China has a strong bitterness and is often used as a traditional medicine in the country of bamboo. Cassia cinnamon, which is native to Saigon, is also fragrant and has a rich, slightly spicy taste.

2. Ceylon Cinnamon

Compared to cassia cinnamon, this variety of cinnamon is of higher quality. Naturally, Ceylon cinnamon is very carefully harvested and processed by hand, without the use of machinery. This process produces a thin layer of cinnamon that is more delicate than cassia cinnamon.

Additionally, Ceylon cinnamon has a very smooth, mild aroma and taste, with a hint of floral notes. Ceylon cinnamon is very suitable for use as a mixture in making various desserts and can enhance the flavor and taste of cake dough.

Because of these quality differences, people often think that Ceylon cinnamon is “fake” cinnamon and that Ceylon cinnamon is real cinnamon. and taste level.

Conditions For Growing Cinnamon Plants

So, dear readers, what are the requirements for growing cinnamon plants?

1. Height

The scientific name of this plant is Cinnamomum burmannii, and it grows well at altitudes between 500 and 1500 meters above sea level. The maximum altitude should not exceed 2000 meters.

This height affects the quality of cinnamon bark. Even when planted at depths of less than 500 meters, cinnamon can grow rapidly, but the rind production is suboptimal, with variability in flavor and thickness.

2. Precipitation

Cinnamon likes moist soil and will thrive in the rain. The required rainfall intensity is at least 2000–2500 mm per year. Too much rain will reduce yields.

Do not grow cinnamon in an environment where the water table is low and stagnant water can cause cinnamon to develop root and stem blight.

3. Temperature

Of course, the conditions for growing cinnamon spice plants cannot be separated from the regulation of temperature. Temperatures that are too low or too high affect the speed and quality of the cinnamon harvest.
